WordPress Websites -The Affordable Option
It has come to my attention that the business world and the general public are unaware of how website development has changed and that most WordPress websites can now be created for between $1500-$5000. You should never have to pay $20,000-$40,000 or more for a website unless you want something incredibly specialised that requires a custom built system to meet your needs. eg you have a website where clients will do a 4 hour course online.
I saw a website the other day that a business owner had paid $40,000 for. It was a HTML website and consisted of about 10 pages of information, no products or any other functionality on the website, no SEO and it did not even look good. In WordPress with a really nice looking template and images this site should have only cost them about $500. The company had paid about 80 times more then they should have.
WordPress Websites – What would you pay for an ecommerce site?
Even full e commerce websites can be set up using WordPress websites for between $3000 – $5000 with the price difference reflecting the number of product pages and any photography needed. If you choose to set up the product pages yourself, then it is the lower end of the scale.
Where some businesses (not all as it depends on the niche) really need to be spending money, is not on the website design and set up but on ongoing search engine optimisation in the way of backlinks, social media, google ads, blogs etc. It is pointless creating a lovely website if no one can find it. Unless you intend to purely market it offline.
In most cases spending money on a website and then not having it optimised by a professional SEO specialist is like setting up a shop in the middle of the dessert. You may have spent $2000 to $40,000 or more on something that no one will ever be able to find.
WordPress Websites – Steep learning Curve
I first started out with a cms that was very image based, and very simple but it also had very little functionality. This however made it much easier when I first stared to use WordPress because I knew what was possible. I just had to work out how to do it in WordPress.
I found WordPress quiet complicated at 1st. But with the help of online videos and sometimes just pure persistence that it must be possible I managed to start to master WordPress and it’s plugins.
The next stage was to become familiar with some themes. I soon learnt that in many cases learning new themes is almost like having to learn a new cms every time. Using the same companies themes can definitely help as they often have similar backends.
