SEO Image Gallery
Page title should be something like
“Keyword – Photo Gallery” or “Photo Gallery – Keyword”
Choose a keyword that makes sense with the photo gallery, it then gives you another page on your website that can rank your keyword.
On page Search Engine Optimisation for Photos
When it comes to photos we are looking for 3 things
1. File name
Could be the keyword or could be something people would search for in google images.
eg if the photo is of “red boots”, but you are optimising the page for “boots for sale online”
You may want to use the keyword and “Red Boots”in the file name and Title.
eg Boots for sale online – red boots
2. Title of photo
Ideal to be things that could be searched for in google images. eg location of the photo, name of person if just 1 person etc.
The idea being that someone searches in google images and sees your photo and comes to the website and discovers you.
As people are not going to search for “boots for sale online” in google image, you want to make sure “red boots” or something people would search for in images is in the title.
3. Alternate text (Alt Tag)
This is what it is called in WordPress. The alt tag may be called something else on your system. This is the one for page optimisation
This is the one that you would put ” Boots for sale online ”
In a photo gallery you would want every photo to have a different alt tag
Whatever you choose as the main keyword I would put that on 1 in every 10-20 photos.
The meta description – could also be found by google, you can leave it blank or again the name of the place and people in the photo
Videos
If you add video to the site then you just add the YouTube code. So you don’t need to do anything with the video on the website.
The optimisation of the video is all done in YouTube. YouTube has a section where you can add the Title (Main keyword), Description (description of video and link back to your website) and Tags (A number of keywords that are relevant to the video and also searched for in google)
